Fujifilm continues to develop the X series of mirrorless cameras to appeal to a wider audience. With the X-T1, Fujifilm has returned to the top, offering a fully-loaded mirrorless camera in a weather-resistant SLR-style body. There’s a lot more to its origins: the X-T1 has one of the largest EVFs we’ve seen, plenty of manual control buttons, and, for the first time in an X-series camera, an optional battery grip.
The “sharpness” of the X-T1 is very similar to the recent X-E2. These include a 16-megapixel X-Trans CMOS II sensor (with on-chip phase detection), EXR II processor, built-in Wi-Fi, and Full HD video recording. The main differences between the X-T1 and X-E2 are the LCD screen (tilt vs. fixed) and EVF (in terms of zoom), maximum burst rate (8 vs. 7fps, now with tracking focus point at maximum speed), flash sync port, and, of course, only the design. But more on that later.
Another feature worth mentioning is the weatherproof camera housing. With more than 75 connections, the X-T1 is dust and water-resistant, as well as frost resistant down to -10°C/+14°F. The X-T1 also features buttons on its top plate, allowing you to easily adjust ISO, shutter speed, and exposure compensation. Below these two buttons are switches for driving and metering modes.
