The Fujifilm X-T2 is the latest version of the company’s high-end DSLR-shaped APS-C camera. It’s built around the same 24MP X-Trans sensor as the X-Pro2 but ends up being more of the X-T1 with more pixels. The X-T2, on the other hand, is a camera that does a lot to address the remaining weaknesses of the X-System, which can only expand on its already considerable appeal.
The 169 phase-detection points we saw in the X-Pro2’s center square sensor area are an integral part of that 24MP sensor. Beyond that, the X-T2 now gains two additional columns of 13 contrast-detection AF points on either side of the frame, expanding its AF area and bringing it to a total of 325 AF points.
The good news is that the 4K camera footage is much more impressive than the 1080p that early X-Trans cameras could get. Fujifilm says it was shot from an area 1.8 times larger than the 4K UHD region, showing oversampling in all dimensions. Combine that with 4K output via HDMI and the X-T2 looks like the first X-Trans camera to appeal to photographers interested in taking photos and videos. Fujifilm X-T2 Firmware Update
